This land was a dangerous one for mortals, but she knew many who lived here. She knew many who were friends with the one she was in love with. It was one of those friends, a sprite of rock and soil that sought to waken her. "Abeni Sanaa!" The small palm sized hedgehog-like sprite squeaked. "Abeni Sanaa, you must wake up!" It continued, hoping to snatch her from her dreams.
She may have been protected from the ravages of time by the blood thanks to her elven blood, but it was her own power which protected her from physical threats posed by the environment while she slept. She awoke, bathed in the same golden light she first entered her deep sleep in so many years ago; the light which came from the protective plant-like pod she conjured after making the final preparations for her slumber on Nanoa Island.
"Crono?" She replied, stretching her arms elegantly. She arched her back attentively stretching her muscles. "Has the Conqueror returned?" She questioned, bringing down the protective pod that once acted to shield her unconscious body. The two stood in the darkness for only a few seconds before the small sprite used its mastery over earth to split the ceiling of the cavern and created an exit. "I am unsure Abeni Sanaa." The little sprite replied. "I woke you because there is danger above ground." It continued.
"Above ground?" Abeni Sanaa said, confused but for a moment. When she first entered her deep sleep, she was beneath a crying willow tree which offered her its roots. Apparently so much time had passed that the landscape had changed and shifted around her. "What danger could possibly reside in this land, where only sprites of old and their guest may walk?"
"A creature of metal that carries the stench of mankind." It responded, parting the ceiling of the earthen crevice the two resided in. The natural light of the sun instantly flooded the small cavern. "See for yourself."
The beautiful elf was familiar with man's mechanical creations. Though she didn't take up the sciences that made these machines possible, she'd seen her fair share. Still, it was strange that humans would send one to a place many knew was off limits to them. Perhaps this machination was created by a group of humans that had only recently made the necessary scientific strides needed to create such a device. If that was the case, there was a good chance they didn't know that they were not allowed to enter this land.
She stood and took her staff in hand. Her mental energies instantly manifested. The vibrant light washed over her body and the rod she now held in hand. "Is this machine so terrifying that no sprite can defeat it?" She asked as the light from her mind gathered at her feet and began to take form. "I don't know." Crono responded, leaping onto her shoulder. "It only just arrived. The strongest sprites are far from here."
"I understand." The golden eyed woman responded. The light beneath her feet began to take on the shape of a budding tree. As it grew, its top flattened to act as a makeshift platform. The brilliant tree shot upwards and lifted her into the air. Within seconds she'd reached the overhead opening. She was immediately met by the island invader who stood at the opening as if drawn in by the disturbance of the shifting land.
"Human, you are not welcomed in this place." She stated boldly. "This land serves as a safe haven for sprites who wish to exist peacefully away from your kind." She finished, stepping from the golden treetop to the ground nearest the opening. It didn't respond. Instead, a series of high pitched beeps emanated from its head peace. Unless she was mistaken, machines that communicated this way were sending signals to a controller that was nowhere near the actual machine. This signal frightened the rock sprite resting on her shoulder. It instantly willed a sharp pillar of dense mineral deposits to spring up from the ground and strike the machine.
Though it knocked the machine on its back, it was undamaged. If it wasn't looking for a fight, it was now. It instantly raised its arms which prompted its palms to produce weapons. Her own reaction was one of defense. The same golden light which helped her clear the crevice she was in just moments ago formed a protective pod around her. The flame which shot from the machine's arms surrounded her but was not able to penetrate her pod-shaped barrier.
This didn't go unnoticed by the invading robot. It changed tactics, switching from flame thrower to ion cannon. The elven female quickly took advantage of the time her mechanical opponent took to change weapons, producing two more creations of her brilliant mental energies. Her thorned panthers quickly closed the distance between their creator and her attacker, lunging at it. Teeth, claw, and thorn were much stronger than those of the actual beasts. They ripped into the robot instantly ripping both arm and head from abdomen.
The resulting sparks were which flew from the creation were not unfamiliar to the female elf, however the way they flew from it sent a worrisome chill through her body. The thorned panthers she'd summoned vanished as she focused all of her power into the protective pod enveloping her. Within seconds, the machine burst into flame. A fearsome shock wave tore through it, shredding it to pieces while burning the land and air around it. The blast was so powerful that Abeni Sanaa could feel the typically still air inside of her barrier grow hotter.
"This fight is over Crono." She said, lowering her barrier. "Quickly smother the flames with dirt-" She stopped after noticing a small piece of something very unusual laying on the ground where the robot last stood. After making her way across the singed scattered remains of the invader she knelt to pick it up. She could only guess what this crystalline object was.
